Terms of use.

Effective May 7, 2026. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. The service

localcrew operates an online marketplace ("Service") that connects homeowners and other consumers ("Customers") with independent service professionals ("Pros") in Ontario, Canada. We provide tools to post jobs, review pro profiles, exchange messages, and arrange work. We are a venue for these introductions; we do not perform the work, supervise the work, or guarantee any outcome.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, capable of forming a binding contract, and resident in Canada to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current. You are responsible for all activity under your account, and you agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. You may only hold one account per role (Customer, Pro, or Admin) per person or business.

3. Customers, pros, and what we are not

Each agreement to perform a job — including price, scope, schedule, and any guarantees — is between the Customer and the Pro directly. localcrew is not a party to that agreement, is not your employer, contractor, agent, broker, or partner, and does not assume any obligations of either party. We don't warrant the quality, fitness, legality, safety, or accuracy of any work, listing, profile, or content. Pros are independent contractors operating their own businesses.

4. Pro obligations

By creating a Pro account you represent and warrant that you (a) hold all licenses, certifications, registrations, and permits required by Ontario law and any applicable municipality for the trades you offer; (b) carry liability insurance and any insurance required by your trade; (c) comply with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) obligations where applicable; (d) collect, remit, and report all applicable taxes; (e) perform work in a workmanlike manner and in compliance with the Ontario Building Code, electrical safety, and other applicable codes and regulations; and (f) only describe yourself and your business truthfully on the Service. You are solely responsible for the work you contract to perform.

5. Customer obligations

Customers agree to (a) describe their job accurately and in good faith, (b) communicate respectfully with Pros, (c) pay agreed amounts to Pros directly and on time per their agreement with the Pro, (d) not use the Service to solicit work outside the trades the Service is intended for, and (e) leave reviews that are honest and based on personal experience.

6. Verification — what it does and doesn't mean

We may perform certain checks on Pros, including identity, business registration, insurance, trade license, and references. A green checkmark indicates we have completed that specific check at the time stamped on the profile. Verification is not a warranty, endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of any aspect of a Pro's work, conduct, or character. Customers remain solely responsible for their own due diligence — including confirming current insurance, licenses, and references — before hiring any Pro, verified or not.

7. Content, messages, and reviews

You retain ownership of content you submit (job descriptions, profile text, messages, reviews, photos). By submitting it, you grant localcrew a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, perpetual licence to host, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the Service. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this licence and that your content does not violate the rights of any third party. Reviews must reflect your actual experience; we may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.

8. Fees and billing

Use of the Service may be free, paid, or partially paid depending on features and on the launch period. We may introduce, change, or discontinue fees at any time on prospective notice. Where fees apply, they are non-refundable except as required by law. You authorize us and our payment providers to charge the payment method on file for fees you incur.

9. Disputes between users

If a dispute arises between a Customer and a Pro about a job, payment, quality, or anything else, you agree to attempt to resolve it directly. localcrew has no obligation to mediate, refund, escrow, or otherwise become involved, and we do not act as a payment intermediary. We may, in our discretion, provide records of messages or transactions in response to lawful requests.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to: misrepresent your identity or qualifications; harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against any user; circumvent the Service to avoid fees, verification, or moderation; scrape, spider, or bulk-extract Service content; reverse engineer the Service; upload viruses, malware, or harmful code; post content that is illegal, infringing, sexually explicit, or that incites violence; solicit users for purposes unrelated to the trades on the Service; or use the Service to violate any law, including consumer protection, privacy, anti-spam (CASL), and human rights legislation.

11. Intellectual property

The Service — including its name, logo, design, software, and content (other than user content) — is owned by localcrew and its licensors and is protected by Canadian and international intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose, subject to these terms. All other rights are reserved.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT, INCLUDING PRO PROFILES, REVIEWS, AND MATCHING RESULTS, ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM A COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. localcrew does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that any defect will be corrected, or that any information obtained through the Service will be accurate or reliable. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; in those jurisdictions our warranties are limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL localcrew, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE — WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $100). NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE LIMITED.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless localcrew, its affiliates, and their officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your content; (c) your violation of these terms; (d) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party; or (e) any work you contract for, perform, or fail to perform through the Service.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, applicable law, or have created risk for the Service or other users. You may close your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including content licences, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution — will continue to apply.

16. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict of laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario for any dispute that is not subject to arbitration or small claims court.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will give reasonable notice — for example by posting a notice on the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
