How verification works.

Every pro starts unverified โ€” that's on purpose. Verification is a series of independent checks our team works through with each pro. A profile shows green checkmarks for the ones we've completed; nothing is implied about the ones we haven't.

Verification is currently free for pros โ€” we will reach out to pros as quickly as we can during launch.

Check 01โœ“Government ID confirmed

Identity

We've matched the pro's government-issued photo ID against the legal name on their account. This confirms a real person stands behind the business.

Check 02โœ“Active legal entity

Business registered

We've confirmed an active business registration in Ontario โ€” sole proprietorship, corporation, or partnership โ€” under the pro's name. We check the registration is current and in good standing.

Check 03โœ“Liability cover on file

Insurance

The pro has provided a current Certificate of Insurance for general or commercial liability coverage of at least $1,000,000. We re-check expiry annually.

Check 04โœ“Active license verified

Trade license

Where the trade is regulated (e.g. plumbers, electricians, gas fitters, HVAC technicians), we've confirmed an active provincial license number against the issuing body's registry.

Check 05โœ“Past customers contacted

References

We've spoken directly with at least two of the pro's past customers about quality of work, communication, and timeliness. References from family or co-workers don't count.

What an "unverified" pro means.

Unverified isn't a warning โ€” it's the absence of evidence. It just means we haven't completed the checks above for that pro yet. They can still take jobs, send quotes, and do great work; you just have less third-party assurance than with a verified pro. We recommend checking reviews, asking for references, and confirming insurance directly when hiring an unverified pro.
